I now have in my posession, the full and complete Baldur's Gate 2, with the Throne of Baal expansion pack in full .ISO and working, in both windows XP and Win7. Several of us, may now rejoice.
If this means nothing to you, then either you are relatively new to PC gaming (withing 7 years or so), or you have been living in a cave. Baldur's Gate II is "The" game that really cemented RPG's in general, on the PC. There had been many before, but none ever so epic in story, length and substance as BG2. It was the game that put Bioware on the very top of the RPG food chain. It was also the game, that paved the way for Neverwinter Nights, Dragon Age Origins, and even Mass Effect. Bioware's Baldur's Gate II is to PC games, what Tolkien's Lord of the Rings was to Dungeons and Dragons.
Why bring up a ten year old game now? Becase I never finished the damn thing. And neither have a few others in this guild. The game was estimated to have over 120 hours of playing time if you fully explored and quested to the limits. I got close, but was distracted by playing Ultima Online at the time and just never got to the end. And time, she stops for no one. First I lost the save games in one of many harddrive crashes over the years. Then I lost one of the 4 installation cds. And when I did download a "warez" version a few years back, I couldn't get it to work on XP correctly because of DirectX 8 issues with OpenGL.
This version I have now, is the original game ripped into it's 4 CD ISO's. I've installed, and played at work tonight. It runs beautifully, if you can get away from the fact it has no widescreen monitor support. Playing it in a window easily fixes the problem, and I was able to get a 1600x1200 resolution running.. uneard of when the game was originally released in 2000. And while the graphics are about equal to Diablo II, the backgrounds are still as beautiful as ever.
So. If you're like me, and never finished this game, or if you've never never heard of it before and want to give it a try, I'll be putting up the ftp server this week for people to download it. It's worth it. Just go dig up some of the old reviews of the game and see for yourself.
Now to find that romance hack script... _________________ - Marak / Greebo / Cavindra / IzzyTheFool

You know what sucks. I lost an instalation disk too so I threw it out about 8 months ago. Guess what! When I was cleaning to make room for my new TV I found it... though when I went to pick up my ME2 I saw it for sale for like 5 bucks may pick it up again.
Go for the eyes Boo, GO FOR THE EYES!! RrraaaAAGHGHH!!!
It does work in Vista, it's just a little finicky. Bioware actually has entire threads on their forums that are for Vista tips and tricks on getting it to run. I believe you have to run the installer program in windows 98 compatibility mode in order to install correctly in Vista. I can point you to the exact threads and tips if you want to give it a try. _________________ - Marak / Greebo / Cavindra / IzzyTheFool
